What services does Lung & Sleep Wellness Center provide?
We provide comprehensive pulmonary care, sleep medicine, and allergy testing and treatment for patients throughout Mt. Airy and Kernersville, NC, all in the same practice.
Where are your offices located?
We have two Triad locations, in Mt. Airy and Kernersville, NC. Visit our Locations page for addresses, maps, and directions.
What are your office hours?
Our team is available Monday through Thursday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and Friday from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Hours may vary slightly by location, so check our Locations page for each office.
Do I need a referral to be seen?
Many patients are referred by their primary care provider, though you can also contact our office directly to schedule an evaluation. Requirements vary by insurance plan.
What should I bring to my first appointment?
Please bring a photo ID, your insurance card(s), and a list of current medications. Visit our New Patients page for a full checklist and paperwork you can complete in advance.
What is your cancellation policy?
We require 48 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule an appointment. A $50.00 fee applies to late cancellations and no-shows.
How should I prepare for a sleep study?
For a few days prior to the scheduled test, try to follow your normal sleep routine. Avoid caffeine (coffee, tea, carbonated beverages, chocolate, etc.) the day of your test, and shower or bathe beforehand without applying sprays, oils, or gels to your hair.
How is a sleep study conducted?
A sleep technologist will place sensors on your scalp, face, chest, and legs to record brainwave activity, eye movements, muscle activity, heart rhythm, body movements, airflow, respiratory effort, and oxygenation, while your body position is observed on video camera.
Will a sleep study hurt, and can I still get up to use the bathroom?
Sleep studies are not painful. Several electrodes with wires are attached to your head to monitor brain waves, and most people quickly get used to them. Once you’re “hooked up,” you’re still mobile and can go to the bathroom without difficulty.
Should I bring my regular medications to a sleep study?
Yes, unless instructed otherwise by your doctor. Bring any medications you take at night, and our sleep technician will instruct you on when to take them.
Will I see the doctor the morning after my sleep study?
No. The data collected during your study must be evaluated and scored first. A follow-up appointment will be scheduled to discuss your results with one of our providers.
How is my privacy protected during a sleep study?
Sleep studies include a digitally recorded video that allows our physicians to observe sleep position, movement, and respiration. We obtain your written consent to perform the study and record the video, and all data is protected under HIPAA.
What is Inspire, and who is it for?
Inspire is an FDA-approved implanted device for obstructive sleep apnea that stimulates airway muscles during sleep, offering an alternative for patients who can’t tolerate CPAP. Learn more on our Sleep page.

Do you offer allergy immunotherapy?
Yes, we offer allergy immunotherapy (AIT), including allergy shots and sublingual tablets, for patients who can’t avoid their allergens or aren’t satisfied with symptom medications. Learn more on our Allergy page.
What if my insurance doesn’t fully cover a service?
Most insurance companies cover services for sleep, pulmonary, and allergy care under medical benefits, but coverage varies by plan. You’re responsible for any balance after insurance, including unmet deductibles. See our Financial Policy page for details.
Can I have testing and treatment done in one office?
Yes. Pulmonary, sleep, and allergy testing and treatment are all handled at the same practice, making it easier to coordinate care for overlapping conditions.
